Pushing and braking aids for manual wheelchairs
An electric pushing and braking aid for wheelchairs is a motorized system that is attached to a manual wheelchair to relieve the attendant when pushing and braking. Pushing aids without a braking function only provide support when pushing, without additional braking support. Both systems are ideal for wheelchair users who do not have sufficient strength to drive independently and their companions who have difficulty pushing the wheelchair over longer distances or uneven terrain.

Handbikes for manual wheelchairs
A handbike is a specially developed bicycle that is powered by the arms instead of the legs. Our BATEC handbike is retrofitted to manual wheelchairs and enables the wheelchair to be propelled forward using arm power and an additional electric motor. Ideal for staying active and covering longer distances and different types of terrain.

AAT offers you a dense network of competent sales representatives who will be happy to advise you on all questions regarding the selection of the right product. You can try out the products you are interested in - even at your own home. Please feel free to contact us or one of our certified specialist dealers in your area.
All AAT products are approved by the german health insurance companies and therefore fully reimbursable. Nevertheless, the german legislator foresees co-payments by the insurants for certain services. This co-payment amounts to 10 % of the cost of the aid, but not more than 10,- €.
Please note that insurance systems vary from country to country and the process of receiving an medical aid is governed by country-specific guidelines.
As all AAT products are official medical products, it is unfortunately not possible to order them directly via AAT. All AAT products as well as accessories or spare parts can only be ordered via medical supply stores. This ensures a neutral consultation.
Outside of Germany, you can purchase AAT products directly from our foreign representatives.
Once you have decided which AAT product is the right one for you, please contact your general practitioner or medical specialist. He or she is your contact for issuing the appropriate prescription and will prescribe the desired product.
Please bring the issued prescription to your medical supply store. The specialist dealer will prepare a cost estimate on the basis of the prescription and submit it to your health insurance company or to the cost unit responsible for you.
