The picture shows a young woman in a manual wheelchair. Attached to her wheelchair is a SOLO² wheel hub drive from AAT Alber Antriebstechnik GmbH. The drive wheel replaces the standard wheelchair wheel and the wheelchair is controlled via a modern control unit with joystick and color display. It drives quickly over cobblestones in the city center of Stuttgart. A building and the shopping street can be seen blurred in the background.

Powerful, quiet and efficient: the direct drive of the SOLO²

With the SOLO² add-on wheelchair drive, you can experience powerful mobility without compromise. The innovative, brushless direct drive without gears is particularly quiet and low-vibration - for pleasant and virtually silent support in everyday life.

The SOLO² masters inclines effortlessly, while the integrated automatic braking function provides additional safety on slopes. Whether in the city or in the countryside: the SOLO² makes every journey comfortable and safe.

With a speed of up to 6 km/h in standard version - and even up to 10 km/h with the optional "X" driving profile - the electric auxiliary drive offers noticeable flexibility for active users.

Smart control with the wireless control unit

With the wireless Bluetooth control unit, you can control the SOLO² add-on wheelchair drive particularly conveniently - and entirely according to your individual needs. The ergonomically designed control unit transmits all drive commands in real time and allows you to quickly switch between different drive profiles - from dynamic to particularly gentle. The color display ensures clear and intuitive operation with an additional night mode.

One highlight is the special "Remote" driving profile: this allows your wheelchair to be moved at a precise, slow speed (up to 0.5 km/h) - ideal for precisely approaching tables, bed edges, other transfer surfaces or in narrow passages. Even when the control unit is removed, the controls remain active in remote mode - for maximum flexibility in everyday life.

Compact, foldable, suitable for everyday use

The SOLO² wheel hub drive scores points in everyday life with its compact design and clever details. Despite the drive wheels being fitted, your wheelchair remains completely foldable - because the batteries are integrated into the wheels to save space and are not installed in a battery bag under the seat.

This means that your wheelchair, including the auxiliary drive, can be transported quickly and easily in the trunk of a car - ideal for spontaneous excursions, visits to the doctor or trips.

Thanks to flexible quick-release axles, the drive wheels can be attached or removed in a few simple steps. This means that the SOLO² is not only powerful, but also extremely practical in everyday use.

Integrated battery power in the bike

The SOLO² electric drive uses state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery technology - integrated directly and invisibly into the drive wheel. This eliminates the need for bulky additional batteries under the wheelchair as well as annoying cable connections. The result: a tidy, elegant appearance and maximum comfort in everyday use.

Despite its compact design, the battery offers an impressive range. If required, an optional second battery can be added directly in the drive wheel - and flexibly replaced at any time if more range is required.

The picture shows a close-up of the new SOLO² bracket, which can be easily attached to the manual wheelchair. Once the bracket is attached, the drive wheels and anti-tippers can be replaced easily and without tools.

The clever mounting system of the SOLO²

The innovative SOLO² bracket system makes your everyday life noticeably easier. The bracket is preferably attached to the wheelchair by your specialist medical supply retailer or optionally by AAT or its sales agents - you can then attach or remove the drive wheels independently, quickly and without tools.

You can switch between standard wheelchair wheels and SOLO² drive wheels without any additional conversion work - ideal for flexible use. This means you remain mobile and adaptable at all times.

Flexible and convenient charging

Charging the batteries in the SOLO² add-on wheelchair drive is particularly easy and versatile: the batteries can be charged directly in the drive wheel - without having to be removed. Alternatively, they can simply be removed and charged separately if required.

The appropriate charging cable is always included in the scope of delivery. The integrated charging socket is splash-proof so that the SOLO² can be charged reliably even in changing weather conditions - perfect for active everyday life.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ):

What is the SOLO² and who is it suitable for?

The SOLO² is an electric add-on drive that equips manual wheelchairs with a retrofittable direct wheel drive. It is suitable for people who want to extend their mobility in their own wheelchair easily and flexibly without having to switch to a heavy classic power wheelchair

Does the SOLO² fit every wheelchair?

The SOLO² is compatible with most commercially available manual wheelchairs with 24" wheels. Your specialist dealer or one of our employees will check whether your current wheelchair meets the requirements as part of the consultation.

The flexible bracket system can be adapted to many common wheelchair models. If you need to change your wheelchair in the future, a bracket can usually be fitted without any problems - the SOLO² itself remains usable as it is.

How is the SOLO² installed?

The SOLO² can be fitted wirelessly and without tools. Thanks to the modular bracket system, which is attached to your wheelchair in advance by your specialist medical supply retailer or AAT, the SOLO² drive wheels can be attached quickly and easily to various wheelchair models. Thanks to the flexible quick-release axles, it is possible to switch between drive wheels and standard wheelchair wheels at any time.

What driving profiles does the SOLO² offer?

The SOLO² has pre-programmed driving profiles that cover different driving needs. These profiles allow the driving characteristics to be individually adapted to different environments and user preferences. Possible driving profiles are Remote, Indoor, Eco, City, Sport and the optionally available driving profile X.

What is remote mode?

The SOLO²'s remote mode allows precise driving at reduced speed, ideal for precisely approaching table edges or transfer surfaces. The controls remain active even when the control unit is removed from the wheelchair.

Is the SOLO² suitable for transportation in a car?

Yes, the SOLO² is light and compact, which makes it easy to transport in the car. The simple assembly and disassembly allow flexible use on the go. Your wheelchair can also be completely folded even with the SOLO² attached, making it easy to store and transport without having to remove the drive wheels first.

Can I travel with the SOLO² on an airplane?

Yes, the SOLO² is generally suitable for air travel. The lithium-ion batteries integrated in the drive wheel meet the requirements of the international aviation authorities (e.g. IATA) in terms of size and power. However, for transportation by plane, it is important to register the batteries before the journey and, if necessary, to remove them from the drive unit and carry them in your hand luggage.

Please contact your airline in advance to find out about their individual requirements. Your specialist dealer or AAT will provide you with the necessary technical data sheets and safety instructions for battery transportation on request.

In our blog "Traveling with a wheelchair" you will find some valuable tips on how to handle lithium-ion batteries when traveling by air:

How do I request a AAT product?

Once you have decided which AAT product is the right one for you, please contact your general practitioner or medical specialist. He or she is your contact for issuing the appropriate prescription and will prescribe the desired product.

Please bring the issued prescription to your medical supply store. The specialist dealer will prepare a cost estimate on the basis of the prescription and submit it to your health insurance company or to the cost unit responsible for you.

You can find detailed information in our guide "how to receive an AAT product".

Where can I find a medical supply store which can advise me?

You can find all medical supply stores in your area by entering your postal code into our medical supply store search.

Who will deliver my AAT product?

The delivery of your desired product will be carried out either by our sales representatives or by one of our trained specialist dealers. During the delivery, you or the operator will receive another detailed briefing on how to use the product. This ensures that you will be able to use the product in the best possible way.
